EM38B Binaural HF Receiver

Technical data

This is a scarce receiver designed in the 60's for use by the French 'DST' to identify spies and rogues transmitters.
One audio channel outputs the audio demodulation from avery large span (full bandwith) while the other audio channel can be accurately tuned into this band.
This way, one can identify the rogue signal to be located and get its frequency. These informations are then sended to a gonio vehicule which will locate the transmitter.
Nowdays all this can be done with a small signal analyser ...
Have a look to the part of the Air France logo that remains on the suitcase. The Lookheed Constellation pictured was in used by Air France between 1950 and 1963.
